I'm an Emmy-nominated, award-winning producer with hands-on experience across every phase of production: story development, production management, field production, editing, and post. I made documentaries alongside the world’s top visual storytellers at National Geographic, then built impact stories for organizations like the National Marine Sanctuary Foundation. Some of that work went viral. Some of it was built to improve learning outcomes. All of it was built to make someone watching actually do something.

I build the whole story myself, start to finish, understanding your goal first and working through how a video can help you achieve that goal. That means every shot and every cut is serving one message, not competing with three others.

Understorey grew out of a need I’ve often seen in small to medium-sized nonprofits and mission-focused organizations. I spend real time with the people and organizations whose stories I'm telling, long enough to understand what they're actually trying to accomplish, not just what sounds good in a press release. What comes out of that process is an impact story and a production plan built specifically for your organization, the difference between a video someone scrolls past and one that actually moves them.

I started Understorey for organizations with a real story and no budget for a full-service agency or someone on staff dedicated to telling it well. Mission-driven organizations caught between a generic template video and a production budget that's out of reach.
